The beta trial version of the Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 has been unveiled by Microsoft Corporation off-late. This time Microsoft has decided to learn from old mistakes and finally decided to give a damn to the features of services offered by their rivals such as Google and Mozilla. Whether Microsoft loves open source community or simply hates them, they’ve decided to use options of threaded conversations just like gmail, and finally an integrated email archive would be seen on the Exchange, without the need of any 3rd party tools.
They’ve also taken the next step towards improving the monotonous appearance of the Exchange products, and even other goodies like handy MailTips (new feature) will help the users to prevent sending unnecessary and unwarranted emails unintentionally to the users outside the company (for business accounts), and basically the percentage of artificial intelligence embedded into the package has improved substantially, unlike the older versions.
Microsoft will launch the Exchange 2010 towards the later half of next year, and surely the users will be quite excited to see such a drastic improvement in the overall marketing strategy of Microsoft, which has come as a pleasant surprise for sure.
What’s more, as Microsoft has adopted email threads, they’ve also added an extra button to disable the same too. Apart from all these things, customized voicemail menus and speech-to-text transcription of voicemail will also be other handy options.
And indeed something worth a big round of applause is the concern shown by Microsoft towards the cost barrier, as they’ve promised that the Exchange 2010 will come with direct-attached storage, and cut short the storage charges by as much as whopping 80-85% mark
Let’s wait and watch how strongly Microsoft manages to back up these promises next year, and as of now all that you’ve got is the beta release of the Exchange 2010.
