Saturday, April 25th, 2009

You must have heard about the Epson X-Desk during the ISE 2009, but the actual specifics of this awesome touch-screen interactive tabletop were still a secret. But, the long wait is finally over as the Core 2 Duo-powered X-Desk; equipped with the stunning 1,024 x 768 resolution panel has been finally unveiled just a while back.
This touch-screen based tabletop is not just meant for official purposes, but even for those tech freaks, who don’t mind to shred off thousands to keep such a masterpiece at home. The Epson X presents an amazing Smart Tagging technique, which allows it to record and recognise 16,000 objects. This is possibly the second biggest multi-touch interactive tabletop project, next to the Microsoft’s codename Milan
The Epson X-Desk unveils some of the best possible features, which you can fancy on a tabletop including Object recognition, Multi Touch, Bluetooth connectivity, Gesture recognition and the likes of them. It will be the UK’s maiden touch-screen interactive tabletop, which will allow multiple users to play with images with multi-touch at the same time.

The major hardware involved in the Epson X-desk primarily include PC pre-loaded with xcite software, camera, housing, optical sensors, rear projector screen, Epson 3LCD projector, as well as few more small things.
The Epson-X will mark a new era in the field of multi-touch interactive technology, and at the moment, it appears as though the UK’s first touch-screen interactive tabletop is going to create a buzz in the market for a while. Let’s see how well it faces off against the Microsoft’s Surface Technology, and how many business users outside UK take interest to grab the Epson X-Desk.
