Top Summer Movies

Well another summer comes and we have a new trend of movies that are coming out this year. It seems that we are being over flown with movies based on old characters. I’m guessing movie companies are realizing it’s easier to use characters we know instead of introducing us to new ones. With all of the movies that are coming out what are going to be the best ones.
First Wolverine was the first to hit the theaters this year. I’m predicting an onslaught of movies with all of the X-Men characters. Wolverine was the natural choice to start with. This movie was a bit of a dud. No great action scene with Sabertooth. I mean a good time waster but I was hoping for more.
Star Trek is the other movie that is currently out in theaters. Star Trek did a great job introducing the roots of all of the characters. The one thing that I was worried about is that they would be just setting up for the following sequels. What I mean by that is that the story would never happen, just a quick move into an action story with no background on the plot. I thought they did a great job in introducing the characters and building a workable story. Not to go into the movie but this is the must see for the fans of Star Trek and for the ones who are not.
There are three movies that are coming out that are must see for men. First to come is the new Terminator. Can you believe that it took almost thirty years for us to see the humans fight the robots? How did it take that long to figure out that movie would sell? Instead we had a terrible TV show and another movie that I barely remember happening. Now the special effects look great and we got a lead role that seems like he can handle the movie. I’m fired up a must see.
Next up is GI Joe. I’m not sure how this is going to turn out. On one side I think this movie could be great but on the other I see this as a complete flop. I’m torn as I want it to do well but I don’t see it happening. The super suits they are getting old and over the top villains. This makes me think of Street Fighter with Juan Claud Van Dam. Hopefully I’m wrong.
The last movie to have a shot of a big bang is Transformers 2. Now the first one just screamed sequel and that’s what we are getting. Hopefully we can get away from the dorky kid and the girl and keep with the action. The first movie was so much better when the story was revolving around the robots and action. The love story just slowed it down. I have high hopes for this story line. I just hope the first 20 minutes aren’t about his college life.
We got 5 movies this summer that could have a bang. Two up three to go it will be interesting.
