Did You Know You Can Even Run Your Car with Air!
Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

Yeah no kidding, the car with air-filled battery designed by Myra Per-Lee is expected to let you drive a car filled with air, though the sad part of the story is that it will take nearly five years to complete the production.
The designers, engineers and research people at St. Andrews Scotland University are moving faster in designing the battery that is powered with air. The model is substituted with the oxide electrode of lithium cobalt in the cells of fuel. The battery of St. Andrews, which will work with normal air, entitled as STAIR also functions with wind and solar energy as well as with oxygen.
It would surely take sometime, but someday in the future, may be after 5 years, one can see the cars running with electricity, literally zooming with air rather than petrol. With one charge of electricity, you can run as long as you can drive with two cylinders of gas. When you are using the batteries of cell phones and computer, you could even end up using them for more days without any recharging.
As the battery is filled with air, the weight of the battery will be very less. The charging and discharging of the battery will be done in a cyclic way wherein oxygen will be used by carbon in this cycle. As far as the cost is concerned, it is much cheaper than the other batteries, as it is prepared with porous carbon.
Porous carbon is made to react with the oxygen taken from the air and it liberates charge in the form of electricity in the battery made up of lithium-air.
It is expected that about 5 years will be needed to complete this production and to bring them into the market, until then you can just fancy those golden days lying ahead of you.
