The Eye Fi Pro, the new SDHC wireless memory card has 4GB of storage and it is targeted to professional photographers and serious photo enthusiasts. It provides a host of new features that include automatic upload to many sites, support for many formats like JPEG, RAW and video formats and the capability to create a wireless connection between your camera and computer to enable easy photo transmission.
If you are ready to spare an additional $9.99 every year, you can also make use of the webshare using which, you can directly upload your photos to face book, photo bucket, Flickr, Picasa, Snap fish and even YouTube.
Apart from this, the Eye Fi has announced that the users can also make use of the Selective transfer, which is given as a free service. As the name suggests, this allows you to choose selective photos and transfer them alone. This is supported by the ‘protect’ or ‘lock’ feature that is present in most of the cameras. The marked photos will automatically be transferred and uploaded and they will continue to remain in the camera until you manually delete them out.
As the Eye Fi memory cards are becoming more and more popular, many camera manufacturers have started manufacturing optimized cameras. The advantages of these cameras may be the notification they give when the upload is done, optimizing the camera’s power consumption and automatic recognition of Eye Fi memory cards. Many Nikon and Casio models provide Eye Fi compatible cameras nowadays.
