Monday, June 22nd, 2009

Well, if you’re tired of spending millions of dollars on MS office then this is some serious relief for you, and all those who’ve been wanting an economic solution to MS Office.
There was a time when Lotus Notes used to compete with Outlook, but Microsoft got the upper hand and Lotus notes, despite its wide publicity never succeeded in competing too well with MS Office.
But, this time around things might be pretty different as Lotus Notes 1.3 might be able to offer everything that the MS Office has got and that too totally free of cost.
Sure thing, IBM may have to think about converting this free package to a paid one after it achieves a decent level of popularity in the market, but as of now you can enjoy the equivalent of MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and that’s included in the MS Office Suite with the IBM Lotus Symphony 1.3, which enables you to create scintillating PPT slides.
It comes with loads of drag-and-drop functionalities, simple easy-to-use intuitive user-interface as well as makes it easy to drill down and analyze the data & its respective functionalities.
What’s more, the biggest thing about the IBM Lotus Symphony is its impeccable capacity to loads the MS Office 2007 files directly and to play around with them without any re-work. This simply means that IBM has done the homework to compete with MS Office and target its current users as well as those who want to use it, but are reluctant due to the high cost of licenses involved.
With DataPilot Table improvements and loads of other features the IBM Lotus Symphony is surely going to give a rusty time to Microsoft again, so let us wait and watch the showdown.
