If you are at considering speed dating or you have been unsuccessful in the past at meeting women during speed dating, then here are some helpful hints for you from a woman who has the inside track on what women want in men and how to make a great first impression.
The key to being successful at speed dating is to make a lasting first impression. You only have around 5-10 minutes with each women, which is not even close to enough time for a woman to get to know what type of man you are. Also, some speed dating venues will have up to 25-40 guys that will all be meeting with the women. This means that you need to stand out in a crowd of 25 guys and do it in a good way.
Prepare some questions for women before your head out to speed dating. These should be casual questions that are not too personal. Things like what she does for a living, what city she lives in and things of that nature are good topics to stick to. Even though you have prepared questions, don’t let your time with the women seem like an interview. Keep it casual and easygoing. Don’t just spout off question after question and don’t have a list of questions in front of you on a piece of paper.
If you are having trouble coming with questions, here are some good ones to get you started.
What do you do for fun?
Where do you see yourself in five years?
Do you have children?
Is religion important to you?
What do you look for in a partner?
What type of work do you do?
Where was she raised/ went to school?
Are you close to your family?
Think about what you want to say about yourself as well. It doesn’t hurt to have a little mini-biography of you in mind. If she asks a general question such as “Tell me about yourself, “ then you can be prepared. Just make sure it is short and to the point as you do not have time to go on and on about yourself. Make yourself look positive, but without being too conceited.
Dress appropriately for the speed dating. This means that that you should at least be wearing nice casual clothes such as a good pair of jeans and a button up shirt or polo. My recommendations would be to go even further and wear khakis with a dress shirt. If you are doing speed dating at a formal establishment, then a suit may be required. Be sure that you are well-groomed and looking and smelling your best.
Be confident in yourself. There is nothing more that turns women off when a man is not confident or at least has some self-esteem. You can be confident without being arrogant. Be proud of who you are and don’t apologize for it. Try to show the woman exactly how great of a catch you are in the little time you have.
Be sure to focus on her most of the time. It is important that you do let her know a little bit about you, but be sure that the conversation is not all about you. Allow her to talk and tell you who she is.
Even if you are not interested in a woman, be nice and friendly to her. You never know she may just be the best friend of the girl you are interested in!
