Spruce Up Your Pad

Does your bachelor pad look like the aftermath of WW3?
I am aware that you, like me, probably have pizza trays lying around all over, chairs made of empty beer cans and your only source of lightning is the dim buzz from your TV, but just the other day a young lady I lured home with promise of gummy bears, was not very impressed with my living arrangements. I had to partly admit, neither was I! So, I recruited her help to pimp out my pad once and for all!
As it turned out, we managed to turn my pad into something (almost) respectable but still with an edge. It’s still got to be obvious a man lives here right? A home bar with snacks is just the thing, but it’s still a good idea to get rid of the bags, half eaten pizzas and bottles afterwards. Your pad can have class, but still be a place to hang with your buddies.
The Necessary:
Start by cleaning up the damn mess. Your home should be clean, not a dirty health-hazardous mess. A man has to have his shit together and that includes keeping your home clean. There’s no need to get obsessive about this, but make sure that guests feel at home and relaxed in your pad. They should get that tranquil feeling of standing on a golf course! Just kidding, but nobody likes having to watch where they put their feet in fear of stepping on last night’s dinner.
Food and Snacks:
Your reserves should always be fully stocked! Get yourself a clean kitchen, with whatever you could need, maybe even more. Snacks are a good idea, so you always have something to offer your guests. Try to keep a varied stock, so everyone can get something for their taste.
Home bar:
Make sure you have enough liquor to make the most common drinks. Remember that girls in particular have the annoying habit of liking drinks that require many ingredients. Keep a basic stock of the most common liquors and juices.
Music:
Make different playlists of great tunes. Experiment with different tracks, so that you have something for all occasions and tastes. Not everyone has the same taste as you, so having some different sounds shows you that are a sociable cool guy, who understands this. Have something ready for parties, dinner and especially seduction.
Furniture:
If you don’t have it already, get some comfortable furniture. Go for something that makes people feel comfortable and that makes your girlfriend want to snuggle up with you. Also invest in a carpet and rug, so guests take of their shoes automatically.
Lightning:
More is better. Do not only rely on that one energy saving blinding light bulb. Get some more lamps where you adjust the strength. Very important for setting the right mood.
Express your personality:
Put yourself in the room. Get stuff from your hobbies and interest in your home. Have something that will make people talk and girls wonder about you. Bring home something unique from your travels. You don’t have to tell her, you bought that Buddha figure in the airport!
