How to attend a Sporting Event

If you have a local professional team in your city you are lucky. These events can be great to attend no matter what the sport is. I’ve noticed many times grown men looking like idiots and ruining the experience for many. You can use a sporting event as a great place for the boys or to bring a date but knowing how to act is important.

No matter what the event parking is going to be higher than normal. Be ready for this when going and don’t complain over and over about it. Nobody cares and it can ruin your mindset going in. Have cash ready when going into the parking lot. The attendant is likely going to be rude so just pay and move on. Often times parking in a lot farther way will be cheaper and you will be able to leave quicker. But don’t make a date walk miles to an arena.

Once you are in the arena or stadium, find your seats before you go and buy beers and food. Almost every event will have food and beer by your seats. There is no reason to buy these and half to walk around the stadium through hoards of people holding nachos.

Once you have found your seats stay in your seats don’t try to move up before a game begins. Depending on the sport but wait for the first quarter or period break if you must try to move up. At this time most people have arrived and you can find an open seat or two. Remember there are people who are trying to prevent this so if you get caught just go back to your seat and don’t make a scene you’ll just look like an idiot.

Appropriate cheering is very dependent on the game. Football games can get much louder and crazier than basketball and baseball. There are simple things to follow to stop you from making a jerk out of yourself. First don’t scream out obscenities there is always going to be kids around. Doing this makes you look small and doesn’t allow other people to enjoy the game. Next keep your but seated unless the whole crowd is standing. People didn’t spend money to see your but in their face. Natural reaction might make you jump up for a second but then sit back down.

I have seen lately more and more people taking pictures at games. This is fine but don’t stand up and strike a pose during action. Wait until a break in the game especially if asking someone else to take a picture for you.

One last thing to save your company do not over analyze the game. It doesn’t matter how much you think you know unless the person next to you asks keep the commenting down. People want to enjoy the experience not listen to you explain why everything is being done wrong.

More than anything have a good time. These events can be expensive so no reason to have a bad time.
